Baris Konur, clinical psychologist, President

Dr. Konur has lived in St. Charles Parish since 2008 having grown up in Germany and Virginia. He earned his undergraduate degree from Purdue University and received his Doctoral degree from Regent University. He is a Clinical Psychologist that works primarily with our Nation’s Veterans and is active in the community advocating for mental health as well as the arts. Dr. Konur is also an officer in the Louisiana Army National Guard. He has been active with The Extra Mile since 2011, having served as Treasurer, Vice President prior to his current role of President. Dr. Konur is married with 2 children, both active in St. Charles activities and schools.
Bill Knecht, MSW, Vice President
“Having worked in health and mental health for over 40 years, TEM is vital in helping families, especially as other services to such families are continuing to be cut back.”
Mr. Knecht received his Master’s in Social Work from Tulane University in 1973, however he has worked in mental health, substance abuse and program management since 1967. He is the Former Director of New Orleans Methadone Clinic and Touro Infirmary Chronic Pain Program and Former Chairman of ERACE (ERACISM). He was also an Adjunct Professor at the Tulane School of Social Work and is currently a Field Supervisor for both Tulane and SUNO School of Social Work students. Mr. Knecht has a private practice specializing in couples work, sex therapy, and sexual compulsions treatment.
Nancy Moore, Treasurer
I have served as Treasurer for the organization ERACE and also a member of NAMI. I think The Extra Mile is important to our community because of the support and advocacy it provides to the clients we serve.”
Ms. Moore has worked with not-for-profit and community outreach organizations for many years, becoming a Board member of The Extra Mile of Southeast Louisiana in 2015 and has been serving in the position of Treasurer since the Fall of 2017. She has a Bachelor’s degree from the University of the District of Columbia and an MBA from the University of Phoenix. She has traveled the country extensively as a military spouse, settling in the New Orleans area in 1998.
Christine Meche, social worker, Secretary

Candace Cutrone, medical psychologist
Dr. Cutrone is originally from New Orleans, having received her M.D. from Louisiana State University Medical Center and serving her Residency at Ochsner Hospital in psychiatry. She currently practices general psychiatry in the New Orleans area and is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Louisiana Psychiatric Medical Association, and the Southern Psychiatric Association.
